Paint it Purple 2025

On the weekends of January 31st-February 2nd, 2025 and February 7th-9th, 2025, the Nepean Wildcats Hockey Association will be hosting it’s 42nd annual Do-it-for-Daron Competitive and House league girls hockey tournaments. Over 200 teams have registered over both weekends, with attendees from all over Ontario coming to our Nation’s capital- spread out on the rinks, at the restaurants, the hotels- and many more local landmarks!

Let’s paint the city PURPLE!

The tournament has joined forces with DIFD at the Royal. DIFD initiatives align with the Nepean Girls Hockey Association’s commitment to building healthy athletes; both in body and mind.

Ottawa Law Classic

The Ottawa Law Classic is returning for its sixth annual game taking place on Saturday, February 15th, 2025!

The Ottawa Law Classic is an annual charity hockey game played between students from the University of Ottawa’s Common Law and Civil Law faculties. It is our mission to bring Ottawa’s legal community together through sport in an effort to educate the next generation of legal leaders about the importance of prioritizing mental wellness.

We are happy to share that the Ottawa Law Classic is continuing the tradition of partnering with Do It For Daron (DIFD) and the Ottawa Gee Gee's Men's and Women’s Hockey Teams.

DIFD supports education, awareness, and research initiatives at The Royal, Ottawa’s preeminent mental health institute, that encourages young people to talk openly about mental illness and to ask for help when needed. DIFD has become a pillar in the Ottawa community and serves as a strong advocate for mental health issues affecting young people.

Thanks to the involvement of the Ottawa community, we have successfully raised over $50,000 in past years through the generous support of our sponsors and the Ottawa community.

Thank you for contributing to the continuation of a University of Ottawa Faculty of Law tradition.

Weights for Wellness

Weights for Wellness

Weights for Wellness is a group workout designed for high school students, taking place on Wednesday, December 4th, at 12:10 p.m. This event is exclusive to the students at Earl of March Secondary School in Kanata, Ontario. Each ticket purchased by a student includes a custom t-shirt and contributes to a donation for DIFD.

The goal is not only to promote the physical benefits of a healthy lifestyle but also to raise awareness about the importance of mental health. Given that high school students are particularly vulnerable to mental health challenges, it is essential to provide them with the necessary information and resources to seek help.

Earl of March chose to support DIFD yet again this year because the story behind the charity resonated deeply with all of the students involved in organizing this event. The students are committed to educating their peers on this critical topic. The goal of the event—to promote both mental and physical health—aligns well with DIFD initiatives.

Royal Oak Day

Community spirit is amplified annually on “Royal Oak Day” when, around May 25th, each pub holds a charity event to raise funds to donate to an organized charity of its choice. Royal Oak Pubs as a group donates to fundraisers and charities such as Muscular Dystrophy Canada, The University Of Ottawa Heart Institute, LoveGives, and of course, DIFD. It’s no wonder the community feeling is mutually enjoyed and appreciated when it comes to having a Royal Oak in your neighbourhood.
