The May-rathon for mental health
I will be running throughout mental health week (May 3 – 9). In addition to running, I will be cycling, walking, and playing basketball to promote a healthy balance and that there is something for everyone. I will be donating $1 for every kilometre I run during the week.
I am doing this because mental health means a lot to me. Though it has improved, there still is a stigma against mental health/illness. With more awareness, WE can end the stigma surrounding the issue. I have lost a friend who was struggling with mental health (Aleksa) who is the basketball player in the two pictures) and I am sure I have friends that are struggling to open up with their battle against mental illness. My goal is to encourage friends and family to learn the facts surrounding mental health and to get outside and do a bit of exercising themselves.
Also, I will be encouraging people to donate to my event as all proceeds will be donated to DIFD, which is a great cause.
Thank you so much for your support!
